The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), established by the Department of Labor and Department of Education, aims to reduce obstacles for individuals struggling to secure quality employment. WIOA supports individuals entering or re-entering the workforce by providing the necessary skills and certifications to obtain high-demand jobs that lead to sustainable careers.

WIOA Funding

  • Who Funds the WIOA Grant? The Department of Labor in collaboration with the Department of Education
  • How Can I Determine My Eligibility? Funding is provided through American Job Centers (AJC). You can verify your eligibility here.
  • How much funding is available per individual? The amount varies based on several factors, such as your state or region, the funding assigned to your local AJC, and additional criteria.
  • When can I start training? Once you're deemed eligible and appropriate for a WIOA Training Account and have completed all necessary paperwork, evaluations, and assessments, we aim to get you started as quickly as possible. Courses are available on a weekly basis.

WIOA Eligibility

  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen.
  • You possess a high school diploma or an equivalent GED.
  • You qualify for government assistance programs.
  • You are classified as a dislocated worker.
    Example: Plant/factory closures, layoffs, homemakers that have lost their primary income
  • You have been terminated or laid off
    OR have received notice of an impending termination or layoff. Additionally, you are either eligible for unemployment benefits, have exhausted your unemployment benefits, or are employed at a facility that has announced it will close within 180 days.
  • You are self-employed but currently out of work.
    This includes farmers, ranchers, and fishermen who are unemployed due to economic challenges or natural disasters.
